The school already has some experience in the use of VR/AI technologies. In 2018, before virtual visits became fashionable during the Covid era, the school participated in a project of the archaeological area in which it is located and created a site also usable via 360°viewer for a virtual visit of the two Roman villas in town. This experience had a strong impact on the acquisition of technological skills. The site, created by the students from the IT and Telecommunications section, can still be visited at the following URL https://laerre9.github.io/poppeaproject360/. There are several laboratories dedicated to the various fields of study. In addition to this, the classrooms have been reorganized and also include the use of mobile devices that allow the overcoming the same physical dimension of the classroom. We aim to ensure education quality higher with the integration of AI into our technical infrastructure by increasing the level of AI literacy in all departments at our school.
There are 971 students in our school, the age range is 14-19. The school population is 80% male and 20% female students, mostly from Torre Annunziata and neighboring towns. Although our graduate students mostly start working in relevant sectors, there are also some who continue their education in higher education. Approximately %20 of students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. The territory of Torre Annunziata has an ancient industrial production vocation, which has progressively declined, though slightly recovering now. Unemployment rate is high (above 24% with much higher peaks among young people). Some children are at risk, especially those from families with job instability or low cultural background. Our school supports our students both educationally and socially and contributes to the social environment.
