🇪🇸 Colegio San Buenaventura (Spain)
Colegio San Buenaventura is a state subsidized school set in 1954 in Batán, a neighborhood in Madrid capital. Our school offers these educational stages: Kindergarden (3-5 years old), Primary (6-12 years old), Secondary (12-16 years
old),Baccalaureate (16-18 years old). There are 73 teachers and 1,000 students. Our Secondary and Baccalaureate students are offered general academic education focused on two main branches of knowledge: Science or Letters. Apart
from the compulsory subjects, they can choose some optional subjects: French, ITC, Latin, History, Biology or Mathematics applied to Social Science. Our school also provides them with extra-school activities such as sports, graphic design,
robotics, emotional management and debate. The school also takes part in charity events (raising funds for a school in Colombia and helping elderly people at Care Centre’s) and eTwinning projects to make our students aware of the world we
live and open their minds to new cultures and experiences.
Our school uses Chromebooks, virtual platforms and apps for learning and teaching. In fact, most of the teachers have been certified by Google at its different levels, but the school is wishing to go one step further with AI. AI will offer the school a new way of developing learning materials based on different rhythms and learning styles, carrying out what in education is called “personalized learning”. Besides, AI allows the storage and analysis of student data to evaluate which methodologies or tools should be used with each group or with a specific student. Considering the contributions and benefits of AI to education, this project will make a difference in the integration of AI into the technologies used in our school and in the development of teachers and students.
There are 1,000 students, from 3 to 18 years old at our school. Most of the students are Spanish, but there are also students from South American countries, Dominican Republic, Morocco, Romania, Ukraine and China. Hosting 1000 students implies that there are different and several backgrounds, not the best ones in some cases (broken families, refugees, severe diseases, economical problems…). For all these kids, the school offers them and their families both psychological and educational support. At the same time this support is extended to students with Specific Needs (autism, dyslexia, talented kids).
